Cedar Hill Cemetery Gravestone
Inscriptions, Volume I
Cedar Hill Cemetery, the first public cemetery in Anne Arundel
County, dates from 1874. The tombstone inscriptions of the
"old monument section," which encompass nineteen gardens, contains
over 12,000 names. Relationships, stone carver's name, and
emblems are included. A map of each section and many emblems
are illustrated.
Cedar Hill Cemetery contains many tombstones that
predate 1874. These graves and their stones were removed from
small family burial grounds and are included in this volume.

Cedar Hill
Cemetery Interment Records, Volume II
The interment records covers the period 1893 through 1947. Records
prior to 1893 cannot be located. Over 14,000 names were copied
from old handwritten records. Cedar Hill Cemetery has served a wide
community since it began in 1874. Its location in Northern
Anne Arundel County places it in proximity to parts of Baltimore
County and Baltimore City. A broad cross-section of the
population is represented in the interment records of this facility.
The records are sorted by section, plot, and
gravesite which shows the relative position of the plot and the date
of interment. Family groups or close relations may be buried
in adjacent graves. A second alphabetical listing of the
records serves as an index and identifies the section and plot
number of the interment. These records are of particular value when no marker or
gravestone was found.
